It is not in one swoop on how that look is created. However, with the right products, curling iron and patience – you can achieve that coveted look!

First, you need to have the right hair products.

• The best products are not just your finishing sprays. It starts with the shampoo you use. Be sure you are not using a heavy-coating shampoo. Depending on the type of hair, a volumizing shampoo is best to start the base for curl sets (or a cleansing shampoo if you only have a day’s notice). Make sure the hair is 100% dry before you curl.

Secondly, you need to have the highest quality hair tools.

• Curling irons come in all sorts of sizes and brands. You get what you pay for and that is for sure!  We like the Hot Tools brand (even within this brand line there are other choices – be sure to ask your professional stylist for help).
• The 1″ is very popular today. When using the 1″ iron, take larger, clean, symmetrical sections and use a comb to smooth the hair. When using the larger iron, take smaller sections and DON’T TOUCH the curl to the curling iron, this tool can get extremely hot!
• ½” is a bit small for the beach wave curl look
• Depending on your length and texture, a 1 ½” or 2″ iron is just too big!

Now the question is: To comb out or not comb out?

Depending on what time your event is and the look you desire, you may choose to leave the curl untouched, or you could even ruffle it up for fun, big hair!
